Tecplot Inc. Celebrates 25 Years of Excellence in Data Visualization.
BELLEVUE, WA -- On July 1, 2006, Tecplot, Inc., a developer of data visualization and technical plotting software, celebrated their 25th Anniversary. Last week, Tecplot staff took time out of their day to celebrate and reflect on the successful quarter century. "The 'game' of business is fun and challenging and we have to make money to keep it going," President and Co-Founder Mike Peery said, "but the big win I see is the personal growth of the people in the organization and the people we come into contact with."
Originally incorporated as Amtec Engineering in 1981, Mike Peery and Don Roberts started Tecplot Inc. to develop Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software for the Aerospace industry. However, they soon realized that more effective data visualization software was needed to analyze the large amount of data being created with CFD programs. "We had expertise in CFD application development, but my real passion was in creating an application that would help customers understand and communicate their data," Peery explained. So, in 1988, the company changed its focus to include all scientists and engineers in need of high quality visualization software and introduced Tecplot, their first product for the scientific visualization market.
Twenty five years later, Tecplot Inc. is home to a family of visualization products and more than 35 employees. Tecplot 360 and Tecplot Focus, the two newest releases, reflect Tecplot's continuing commitment to customers and quality software. Company president Mike Peery said, "We started with the idea of creating useful high quality software for engineers and scientists. My biggest thrill is getting comments from customers about how Tecplot has helped them in their work and how much they enjoy using our software." Today over 30,000 engineers and scientists from many different countries and industries use a Tecplot product as their visualization tool of choice.
